  • Use

    The area is to be used for centre purposes within retail, public and private service, homes, hotel, restaurants as well as public administration and institutions. Within the area, technical supply plants can be established to supply the area. The location and design of the plants are to be determined, while respecting the neighbouring buildings and the unbuilt areas

  • Current conditions

    The area covers an area of some 125 ha

  • Building provisions

    Prior to constructing new buildings, a complete plan is to be prepared for the entire area, which determines the type, scope and location of buildings as well as detailed provisions for the area’s development

  • Remaining available space

    The area can hold another 330 homes and has 20,000 m² of available space, depending on the final layout of the buildings. Once the abovementioned building potential has been utilised, the area is considered fully developed without any available space in the area.

    Road access to the area is to be from Kangerlunnguamut

  • Regulated zones

    The area is covered by the protection zone for the water catchment area. The protection zone runs 30 metres outside of the catchment area border. Constructing buildings and facilities or keeping dogs etc. within the protection zone is not permitted. The area is covered by the explosives store’s safety zone. This part of the area cannot be developed or in any other way be used contrary to the safety zone provisions. Traffic in the area is to respect the safety zone around the explosives store; However, the public will continue to have access to the part of the area that is not fenced in. Regulated zones exist around the airport in the shape of obstacle limitation surfaces that consist of partly a horizontal surface and a conical surface, partly approach and take-off surfaces in continuation of the runway. The area is located under the airport’s obstacle limitation surface, and is covered by the horizontal surface, where buildings and other facilities cannot be established higher than level 61.0 metres and roads no higher than level 56.0 metres.     The northern part of the area is covered by the explosives store’s safety zone and may only be utilised provided that the town’s explosives store be relocated. The part of the area that is covered by the water protection zone cannot be developed or otherwise be put to use until an exemption has been granted by Landsplanafdelingen or until the protection zone has been cancelled
